Chamionship Qualifying 1st Round - 13.5.17

The first of the Club Championship Qualifying Rounds was played on Saturday, 13th May, 2017, in weather which unfortunately deteriorated as the day wore on, it was showery in the morning with light winds which grew stronger from late morning and was very strong by the time the last players finished.      This was reflected in the scores submitted by the 56 entrants who took part, all of the winner coming from those out early in the morning. The eventual winner with an excellent score of 67(1)66 was Colin Finlay, and he also recorded the lowest gross score.      He was closely followed by Alan Kerr on 79(12)67(bih) and Norman Roxburgh on 72(5)67.      Fourth was Ian Stephenson on 81(13)68, and fifth was Michael McVie on 72(3)69.      Only two players managed to record two’s at the nominated holes, with Colin Finlay and Donald Ballantyne picking them up at the 7th, with no players able to perform this feat at the 18th.     These two picked up £15 each for their efforts.      The entry fee was £3, making a total of £168 from the 56 entrants; £130 was paid out in cash to the winners and £30 to the two’s winners, with £8 going to the contingency fund.
