The Claret Jug - 22.7.17

The Claret Jug competition sponsored by Norman Purves took place on Saturday, 22nd July, 2017, and a very modest turnout of only 28 members took part.    The weather was atrocious with heavy rain and high winds most of the day.     The player of the day who mastered these conditions with a good round of 74 (06) 68 was our worthy Captain, Rodney Pow.    He was closely followed by Stephen Henderson on 71 (02) 69 and in third place on a score of 80 (10) 70 was David Heard.      Three players managed to get a hole in two at the nominated holes, and these were Rodney Pow at the 6th and Scott Galloway and Alistair McVie at the 18th, each receiving £5 for their efforts.     The entry fee was £3 making a total of £84 from the 28  entrants; £60 was paid out in cash to the winners and £15 to the two’s winners, with £9 going to the contingency fund.
