The Senior Open Texas Scramble, sponsored by Neil Beaumont and also under the stewardship of the Assistant Match Secretary Bruce Bett, took place on Monday, 11th September, 2017, and a turnout of 14 teams took part, although it is worthy of note that only four of these teams were comprised totally of Selkirk members.      The team of the day was Frank Millar; Mark Fairclough (both from Duns); and Ray Gowdridge (Dunbar) on a score of 65 (8.2) 56.8.      Second was the Galashiels team of Alister Peacock; William Taylor; and Alan Hitchcock on a score of 64 (6.5) 57.5, followed in third place by the Minto team of Raymond Johnston; Ron Robertson; and Pat Jubb on 65 (7.2) 57.8.(bih)      The best scratch score was recorded by the team of John Hume (Selkirk); Brian Porteous (Langholm); and Jock Scott (Hawick) with a 62.      Handicaps for the teams were allocated on the basis of one sixth of the combined handicaps of the three team members to the nearest decimal point.      As the computer does not recognise decimal points the information published to 'Masterscoreboard' does not reflect the situation as described above.

The specialist prizes were won as follows:-
Nearest Line at 8th/17th - Ian Scott (Lauder); Nearest Hole at 6th - Draw between John Logan (Peebles) and Ron Robertson (Minto); Nearest Hole at 18th - Derek Clyne (Galashiels).     Four teams managed 2's at the nominated holes and these were as follows:-    6th - Team Hume (Selkirk); Porteous (Langholm); and Scott (Hawick).     18th - Team Johnston; Jubb; and Robertson (all Minto) - Team Hitchcock;Peacock; and Taylor (all Galashiels) - Team Bett; Farrell; and Walton (all Selkirk).
