Roundup of Annual Competitions


A number of annual competitions came to a conclusion this month and these were as follows:-

The Summer Foursomes competition was won by Bruce Bett & George Grant who beat John Hume & Colin Gass in the Final.

The Alexander Quaich was won for the second year in a row by Norman Purves who beat Bill Walton in the Final.

The Brown Cup for the best three score aggregate in the Monthly Medals, with a total score of 196 and two shots ahead of his nearest rival, was Robert 'Tug' Wilson, his three net scores being 64; 67 and 65.      Second was Graeme Bell on 198 points.

The Order of Merit awarded for the number of points accumulated during thirteen of the major cmpetitions of the year was won by Robert 'Tug' Wilson on 45, who breasted the tape six points ahead of his nearest rival Alistair McVie.

The Gents Net Eclectic Shield for the lowest score recorded at each hole in the majority of single competitions during the year was won by Graeme Kerr who recorded a very creditable net score of 48. He was closely followed by Andy Pickersgill and Alistair McVie, both on net 49.

The Gents Gross Eclectic was won by Donald Ballantyne on a gross score of 51, only one point ahead of his nearest rival Paul McVie.
