Match Secretary's Choice - 21.10.17

On Saturday, 21st October, 2017, the ‘Match Secretary’s Choice’ for the day was American Foursomes, a variation of greensome, where both players drive off, then play their partners ball before deciding which ball to select to finish the hole playing alternate strokes, and using the stableford points scoring system.    Unfortunately only eleven teams took part this year.      The winners with a very good score of 46 points was the team of Les Rutherford and Peter Henderson, five points ahead of their nearest rivals John Coyle and Graeme Kerr on 41 points.      Third, on 39 points was last years winners David Johnson and Greig Temple.      No teams managed to get a two at the nominated holes, but hidden prizes of a bottle of wine each were given to the team of Les  McAllister and Donald Ballantyne who scored the only two of the day at the 9th, and also to Jim Farrell and Ronnie Douglas who were the busiest golfers.     The entry fee was £10 per team, making making a total£110, and this amount was paid out in cash to the winners, leaving the contingency fund all square.
