Centenary Cup - 9.6.18

The Centenary Cup sponsored by Jim Farrell was played on Saturday, 9th June, 2018, and a total of 41 members took part.     Once again we were blessed with very good weather, dry and sunny with light winds.    The format this year was stableford, and the man of the moment who had a magnificent score of 42 points, despite losing a ball, was Iain Clark.     It is also worthy of note that his second nine gross score was what I think may well be a record breaking 28 shots.     He was followed by Michael McVie with a very creditable 38 points(bih), and in third place on the same score was Ian Stephenson.     Fourth on a score of 37 point(bih) was Les Rutherford.     Only two players managed to get a hole in 2 at the nominated 6th hole, and these were Jim Rae and Donald Ballantyne, with none of the players performing this feat at the 18th, both of them receiving £10 for their efforts.     The entry fee was £3 making a total of £123 from the 41 entrants; £100 was paid out in cash to the winners and £20 to the two’s winner, with £3 going to the contingency fund.
