August Medal; Brown & Smith Cups - 11.8.18

The August medal including the Brown & Smith Cups, sponsored by N. W. Purves & Sons, Ltd., was played on Saturday, 11th August, 2018, and an excellent turnout of 52 members took part.     The winner and recipient of the Smith Cup with a magnificent score of 66(5)61 was our very own President John Hume.     He was closely followed by Jim Rae on a very good score of 69(6)63(bih), and in third place on the same score was Alan Kerr with 75(12)63.    In fourth place also with a good score was Scott Galloway on 70(6)64(bih) and in fifth place on the same score was the player with the lowest gross score of the day, namely Paul McVie with 64(0)64.     Six players managed to hole out in two at the nominated holes, and these were Thomas Bell and Norman Roxburgh at the 7th; with Bruce Bett; Robert Falconer and Jim Rae doing it at the 18th; whilst Paul McVie managed this feat at both the 7th and 18th; each receiving £3 per hole for their efforts.     The entry fee was £3 making a total of £156 from the 52 entrants; £130 was paid out in cash to the winners and £21 to the two’s winners, with £5 going to the contingency fund.
