Seniors 3-Man Texas Scramble - 10.9.18

The Senior Open Texas Scramble, sponsored by Neil Beaumont took place on Monday, 10th September, 2018, and a turnout of 15 teams took part.     The weather was overcast with fairy strong winds and with rain in the late afternoon.     The team of the day from Selkirk was Les Rutherford; Peter Henderson and Andy Pickersgill on a score of 64(5)59.     Second was the Peebles team of Walter Forsyth; Brian Faulkner and David Watson 66(6)60(bih), followed in third place by the Selkirk team of Bill Walton; Ronnie Douglas and Jim Farrell on 67(7)60.     The best scratch score was recorded by the Galashiels team of Andrew Wayness; Graham Low and George Black with a 64.     Five teams managed to get a hole in two at the nominated holes and these were the Craig; Forrest; McCall team from Selkirk; the Fairclough; Gowdridge; Millar team from Duns; and the Beaumont: Bett; Cockburn team from Selkirk at the 6th; and the Forsyth; Faulkner; Watson team from Peebles; and the Logan; Nichol; Wynn team also from Peebles at the 18th; each of these teams receiving £12 for their efforts.     Nearest the line at the 8th/17th was Tom Welsh who received £20.     The entry fee was £24 per team, making a total of £360 from the 15 teams; £270 was paid out in prizes; £60 to the 2's winners and £20 for nearest the line, and this left £10 for the contingency fund.
