Match Secretary's Choice - 20.10.18

On Saturday, 20th October, 2018, the ‘Match Secretary’s Choice’ for the day was American Foursomes, a variation of greensome, where both players drive off, then play their partners ball before deciding which ball to select to finish the hole playing alternate strokes, and using the stableford points scoring system.     A total of sixteen teams took part this year.     The winners with a very good score of 47 points was the team of Grieg Temple and David Beveridge, three points ahead of last years winners Les Rutherford and Peter Henderson on 44 points.     Third, on 42 points was Andrew Webster and Moira Wilson.     Only one team managed to get a two at one of the nominated holes, that being the team of Alan Brown & Colin Gass at the 6th hole.     Hidden prizes of a bottle of wine each were given to the team of Bruce Bett and Andy Pickersgill who were the busiest golfers of the day, and also to John Coyle and Graeme Kerr who had the highest combined score at the 8th/17th hole.     The entry fee was £10 per team, making a total£160; of this sum £150 was paid out in cash to the winners, and with £10 going the the 2's team, this left the contingency fund all square.
