Senior Open Texas Scramble - 9.9.19

The Senior Open Texas Scramble, sponsored by Neil Beaumont took place on Monday, 9th September, 2019, and a poor turnout of only 9 teams took part.    The weather was damp in the morning but cleared up in the afternoon, and with very little wind it was a good day for playing golf.    The team of the day consisting of Robert Falconer from Selkirk; Jim Thomson & William Taylor from Galashiels had a score of 63(6)57.    Second was the Selkirk team of David Beveridge; Bill Walton & Ronnie Douglas on 66(8)58, followed in third place by the team consisting of Bruce Bett from Selkirk; Graham Low & Andrew Wayness from Torwoodlee on a score of 62(3)59.    Six teams managed to get a hole in two at the nominated holes and these were the Barnard; Drover & Nicol team at the 6th; the Fairclough; Gowdridge & Miller team at the 18th; whilst the Bett; Low & Wayness team and also the Beveridge; Douglas & Walton team managed this feat at both these holes, each team receiving £3 per hole for their efforts.    Nearest the line at the 8th/17th was Kenneth Nicol from Galashiels who received three golf balls for his effort.    The entry fee was £24 per team, making a total of £216 from the 9 teams; £180 was paid out in prizes to the winning teams; and with £18 going to the 2's winners, this left £18 for the contingency fund.
