Roundup of Annual Competitions - 20.10.19

A number of annual competitions came to a conclusion this month and these were as follows:-
(a) The Alexander Quaich was won by Scott McDonald who beat Mark Easson in the Final.
(b) The Brown Cup for the best three score aggregate in the Monthly Medals, with a total score of 190 and six shots ahead of his nearest rival, was Donald Ballantyne, his three net scores being 60; 61 and 69.     Second was John Coyle on a score of 196.
(c) The Order of Merit awarded for the number of points accumulated during thirteen of the major competitions of the year was also won by Donald Ballantyne on 62, who breasted the tape thirteen points ahead of his nearest rival Scott Galloway.
(d) The Gents Net Eclectic Shield for the lowest net score recorded at each hole in the majority of single competitions during the year was won by Scott Galloway who recorded a very creditable net score of 48.     He was closely followed by John Coyle and Bill Walton also on 48, and only secured the title by reason of the best last six holes.
(e) The Gents Gross Eclectic was won by Donald Ballantyne on a gross score of 50, but only one point ahead of his nearest rival S
cott Galloway.
(a) The Summer Foursomes competition was won by Rodney Pow & Norman Purves who beat John Coyle & Gerald Beggs in the Final.
