Medal & Brown Cup - 4.07.20

In a year which has been blighted by the coronavirus pandemic it is a great pleasure to announce that Competitive golf at Selkirk resumed on Saturday, 4th July, 2020, with a Monthly Medal & Brown Cup contest sponsored by Les Miller Garage Services.    The weather was warm but overcast with light showers at times throughout the day and with very little wind.    The player of the day was David Heard with a magnificent round of 72(11)61.   Runner-up was Gordon Inglis 74(8)66(bih); with Les McAllister in third also on 70(4)66(2nd bih); and in fourth place also on 78(12)66 was Mark Easson.    Prizes of £40; £30; £20 and £10 respectfully were awarded to the four winners.    Four players managed to get a hole in two at the nominated holes, and these were Eric Middlemas at the 6th, with John Coyle, David Heard and Rodney Pow performing this feat at the 18th, receiving £6 each for their efforts.     The entry fee was £3 making a total of £144 from the 48 entrants; £100 was paid out in cash to the winners, and with the 2’s winners getting £24, this left £20 for the contingency fund.     It is hoped that the bar will be open next week to supply drinks for members outside the premises, and prize money can therefore be collected as usual from behind the bar.
