Medal & Brown Cup - 11.07.20

On Saturday, 11th July, 2020, competitive golf at Selkirk continued with a Monthly Medal & Brown Cup contest which unfortunately this year was not sponsored.    The weather was warm but overcast with light winds.    The player of the day was David Main with a magnificent round of 74(15)59.   Runner-up was Thomas Bell 69(6)63; with Scott Galloway in third on 68(4)64; and in fourth place on 72(7)65 was Scott McDonald.    Prizes of £40; £30; £20 and £10 respectfully were awarded to the four winners.    Five players managed to get a hole in two at the nominated holes, and these were Donald Ballantyne; Chris Kemp; and Alistair McVie at the 7th, with Graeme Kerr and our worthy winner David Main performing this feat at the 18th, each receiving £5 for their efforts.     The entry fee was £3 making a total of £141 from the 47 entrants; £100 was paid out in cash to the winners, and with the 2’s winners getting £25, this left £16 for the contingency fund.     It is hoped that the bar and lounge will be open next week to supply drinks for members inside the premises, and prize money can therefore be collected as usual from behind the bar.
