This competition, which is sponsored by Alan McGhee, took place on Sunday, 27th June, in gloriously sunny conditions with only light winds from the north east. The winning team consisted of our esteemed Match Secretary Bruce Bett along with his partner Wendy Boustead who posted a score of 85(22)63. Second was Norman and Carol Purves on 79(13)66; third was Diane Cassidy and George Grant 77(10)67(bih); and fourth was the partnership of Les Rutherford and Jean Beattie on 79(12)67(best last three holes). These winners received prizes of £60; £50; £40 and £20 respectively. The winners of the George Scott decanter for the best gross score was the team of George Grant and Diane who recorded a gross score of 77. The nominated two’s holes were the 6th and 18th, but none of the teams managed to score the required number at any of these holes, and therefore the prize money of £32 has been added to the contingency fund. A total of sixteen teams took part in the competition and the entry fee per team was £14, making a grand total of £224 for distribution; £170 was paid out in prize money and this left £22 for the contingency fund. Due to problems with the computer system we were unfortunately unable to process the scores in such a way that the results were available to view on the selkirk website, although they are available on the app.
Many thanks to Alan McGhee who has sponsored this competition for a long number of years.
