This competition which consisted of a stableford points based event was played on Saturday, 5th June, in perfect weather conditions, but with a strong westerly breeze. The winner of the cup who managed to achieve a total of 42 points was Colin Robinson, and he was closely followed by Ian Stephenson on 41 points. Third equal was Norman Roxburgh; Chris Kemp and Grant Kinghorn on 38 points. These winners received prizes of £45; £35 and £10 each for the third equal participants. The nominated 2’s holes were the 6th and 18th and ten contestants managed to achieve this feat; Neil Beaumont; Gordon Inglis; Les McAllister; John A. Hume; Colin Robinson; Graeme Bell and Gerald McMorrow doing it at the 6th; and Hughie Macdonald; Michael McVie and Ian Stephenson at the 18th; each of them receiving the sum of £3 for their efforts. A total of 53 members took part in the event and the entry fee was £3, making a total of £159 for distribution. With £110 being paid out in prizes and £30 for the two’s winners, this left £19 for the contingency fund.
Many thanks to Ex-Captain Jim Farrell who has sponsored this competition for many years.
