The Selkirk Rosebowl, which is a two man team event with the best net score at each hole counting for the team, was played on Saturday, 12th June, in perfect weather conditions with long sunny spells and medium to strong winds from the west. The winners of the Rosebowl, with a magnificent score of net 55, was the team of Andy Pickersgill and Jim Farrell. Second equal were the teams of Grant Gill and David Beveridge; Ian Wilkie and Norman Roxburgh, both on scores of net 57. These teams received prizes of £40 each; £30 each and £20 each respectively. Four individual players managed to score a two at the 6th hole; these being Grant Kinghorn, Tom Welsh, Mitch Thomson and Jackson Cockburn, and they received a prize of £6 each for their efforts. No one managed to score a two at the 18th hole. Twenty four teams took part in the competition and with the entry fee being £10 per team this left a total of £240 for distribution; of this amount £180 was paid out in prize money to the winners and with £24 going to the two’s winners, this left £36 for the contingency fund.
