This competition, sponsored by J.G.M Services, was played on Saturday, 7th August, in warm overcast weather with unfortunately some heavy showers in the afternoon. The winner of the Smith Cup with a very good score of 78(14)64 was Craig Lowrie; second was Jonathan Brady on 86(21)65(bih); third was Les Rutherford also on 73(8)65; and fourth was Peter Henderson on 74(8)66. These winners received prizes amounting to £40; £30; £20 and £10 respectively. The nominated two’s holes were the 6th and 18th and five players managed to achieve this feat, with Les Rutherford and Paul McVie doing it at the 6th; Grant Kinghorn and Les McAllister at the 18th and Ian Wilkie who managed it at both holes. These winners received the princely sum of £4 per hole for their efforts. A total of 47 members took part in the competition and at an entry fee of £3 this amounted to a sum of £141 for distribution. A total of £100 was paid out in prizes to the winners, and with £24 being dealt out to the two’s winners, this left £17 for the contingency fund.
Our thanks to J.G.M Services for sponsoring this competition.
