This competition, sponsored by Jim Hay, returned to its original format this year as a thirty six hole tournament over one weekend, and it was played in very contrasting weather conditions, with warm sunny conditions on the Saturday with virtually no wind, and overcast drizzly and windy conditions on the Sunday. The winner with excellent scores of 63 – 64 (127) was Colin Robinson; second with scores of 65-66 (131) was Scott Galloway; third on scores of 70 -64 (134 – best 2nd Rd) was Grant Gill; and fourth on scores of 68-66 (134) was Michael McVie. These winners received prizes of £55; £45; £35 and £25 respectively. The nominated two’s holes on the Saturday was the 6th and 18th and four players managed to achieve this feat, with Chris Kemp and George Grant doing it at the 6th and Scott Galloway and Alistair McVie accomplishing the same feat at the 18th. On the Sunday the nominated holes were the 7th and 18th and whilst no players managed it at the 7th, Michael McVie was the only player who did so at the 18th. All of these players received the sum of £8 for their efforts. A total of 35 players took part in the competition and at an entry fee of £6 this meant that £210 was available for distribution. A grand total of £160 was paid out to the winners, and with £40 being paid to the two’s winners, this left £10 for the contingency fund.
Our thanks go once again to Jim Hay for continuing to sponsor this competition.
