This event, sponsored by Brown & Muir, was held on Saturday, 11th September in overcast but warm weather with moderate winds. The winner of the Medal with a very good score of 78(14)64 was Ronnie Douglas, who just pushed Gordon Inglis into second place by reason of a better inward half, Gordon having also scored 70(6)64. Third on his own was Gerald Mcmorrow with a score of 71(6)65, and fourth was Jocky Hume with a score of 72(6)66 by reason of a better inward half. These winners received prizes of £40; £30; £20 and £10 respectively. The nominated two’s holes were the 6th and 18th and five players managed to achieve this goal, with Andy Raphael and Gerald Mcmorrow doing it at the 6th, and Gordon Inglis; Jocky Hume and Alistair McVie accomplishing the same feat at the 18th. These players received the princely sum of £5 for their efforts. A total of 43 members took part in this competition, and at an entry fee of £3 this left £129 for distribution. With £100 being paid out in prizes to the competition victors, and £25 to the two’s winners, this left £4 for the contingency fund.
Our thanks to Brown & Muir, Plumbers & Roofing Contractors, 1-3 West Port, Selkirk, for continuing to sponsor this competition.
