This competition, sponsored by Border Safeguard, was played on Saturday, 18th September, in perfect golfing conditions with warm sunny spells and light winds. The winner on the day with a very good score of 76(13)73 was Robert Falconer; second on a score of 75(11)64(bih) was Mark Easson; and third on the same score of 75(11)64 was Gordon MacGregor. These winner received prizes of £40; £30 and £20 respectively. The nominated two’s holes on this occasion were the 7th and 18th, and whilst no player managed to score a two at the 7th, three players, namely David Beveridge, Donald Ballantyne and Mark Easson managed this feat at the 18th, each receiving the princely sum of £7 for their efforts. A total of 39 members took part in the competition and at an entry fee of £3, this meant there was £117 for distribution. With the victors receiving prize money amounting to £90 and the two’s winners receiving a total of £21, this left £6 for the contingency fund.
